Eleven female researchers left their laboratories and classrooms to share their work with the public.
The third edition of Ellas y la Ciencia (Women and Science), one of ESPOL Divulga's initiatives, once again demonstrated that science can excite, inspire, and move people. With the support of CEDIA and other organizations committed to the transformative role of women in society, the event brought together more than a thousand people at the Centro de Arte Theater in Guayaquil, for an evening where knowledge became storytelling and female scientists took center stage.
Under the motto "Hand to Hand with Science," eleven Ecuadorian researchers left their laboratories and classrooms to share, in a monologue format, how their work directly impacts daily life. It was an exercise in courage and empathy, in which each story showed that behind every discovery lies passion, effort, and human commitment.
Since its inception in 2023, Ellas y la Ciencia (Women and Science) has brought visibility to more than 30 female scientists from different regions of the country, fostering collaborative networks, inspiring girls and young women to pursue careers in science, and demonstrating that science can also be communicated through emotion and personal narratives. The initiative has successfully connected with diverse audiences, bringing research to settings where it is rarely presented.
CEDIA joined this edition as part of its commitment to disseminating knowledge and strengthening a more inclusive, equitable, and accessible science. The invitation remains open for new participants in 2026, because when women share their stories, science is not only understood: it is felt.
